Galvalume Steel Coil, commonly referred to as Aluminum-Zinc Alloy Coated Steel Coil, is manufactured by applying an alloy coating consisting of 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon onto a cold-rolled steel substrate. This material combines the high corrosion resistance and heat resistance of aluminum with the cut-edge protection of zinc, forming a composite coating structure that offers both physical barrier protection and electrochemical sacrificial protection.
Key Advantages:
Aluminum’s role: Forms a dense aluminum oxide barrier layer on the surface, effectively isolating corrosive media
Zinc’s role: Provides sacrificial anode protection at cut edges and scratches, preventing red rust propagation
Silicon’s role: Inhibits excessive growth of the alloy layer, ensuring coating adhesion
